After almost three years with no LEC action elsewhere than the Berlin studio, the LEC heads back to Sweden for the 2022 summer finals. The LEC finals will take place in Malmö Arena, Sweden from September 10 to 11. Riot earlier planned to host the LEC finals in Malmö back in 2020 but had to cancel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, the 2022 LEC summer finals give more fans an opportunity to attend the event in person as the Malmö Arena can hold more than 10,000 fans. The last time fans got to experience this was in 2019 when Riot took the LEC finals to Athens, Greece.
Furthermore, it is also the first LEC finals in Sweden since 2015 when Origen pushed Fnatic to their limits with a thrilling best-of-five series. Former Fnatic player, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson turned heads with a Pentakill on his Tristana to close out the third game.
The top three teams from the summer playoffs will play at the Malmö Arena for a chance to win the LEC trophy. With only five games played in the summer split, all playoffs spots are still up for grabs for the 10 teams.
Additionally, the LEC 2022 summer finals tickets will be available from July 1st at lec.gg/malmo during a planned RDYCHK broadcast. Fans can purchase their tickets during or after the broadcast. There will also be a LEC XPO at the MalmöMässan Exhibition & Congress Center. Riot will reveal more information on the LEC XPO in the coming weeks.
