The Riyadh Masters Dota 2 tournament sees 10 of the best teams—including the first Chinese teams at an international LAN since The International 10—competing for a massive US$4 million prize pool.

Fans will also get a first look at several teams due to appear at the Arlington Major, a spicy offline preview leading up to the biggest event of the year—The International 11 in Singapore.

The Riyadh Masters tournament is a third-party event organized by Gamers8 Esports, the same organization that hosted the Gamers Without Borders online regional tournaments in May.

The ten teams will be split into two groups of five teams, each playing a single best-of-two round-robin.

The first-placed team from each group advance directly to the semifinals of the playoffs, the second and third-placed teams move on to the quarterfinals, and the rest are eliminated.

The playoffs will be a single-elimination bracket, where all series are best-of-three.

A total of US$4 million is on offer here, with a minimum prize purse of US$100,000 for the last teams and a US$1,500,000 bonus for the event’s winner.

For comparison, the Arlington Major will have $500,000 in prize money. The last-placed team at Riyadh Masters 2022 will earn the same amount of money as the second-placed team at the Major.

A conspicuous lack of Southeast Asian and South American teams aside, the roster features some of the best teams in the world, with at least seven teams scheduled to appear at the Arlington Major—and many already locking their slots in for TI11.

You can watch the Riyadh Masters 2022 on Gamers8 official Twitch or YouTube channel.
