EVOS SG is one of the best Singaporean teams in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League. The team won back-to-back championships in MPL Singapore Season 1 and 2, and represented the country multiple times in international MLBB tournaments.

Unfortunately, fans won’t be seeing the team anymore on the big stage. EVOS SG announced in a Facebook post last week that all members were released from the squad. EXP laner and longtime veteran Stefan Chong “Soul” Ru Chyi also confirmed with ONE Esports that the organization will not even participate at all next season.

Now that all seven members are free agents, Soul shared their plans for next season.

In an exclusive interview with Soul, he told ONE Esports that the upper management of EVOS had to make difficult business decisions this year.

“There were considerations to drop the Singapore division a long time ago, but it stayed due to good performance,” he said.

The white tigers failed to defend its back-to-back championship after losing to rival RSG PH, 1-4 in the grand final of MPL SG Season 3. EVOS’ last tournament appearance was at MSC 2022, where they were swept by Myanmar’s Falcon Esports, 0-3, in the first round of the lower bracket playoffs.

According to Soul, all of his teammates had the same reaction when they found out that EVOS SG will not field a roster next season.

“They were shocked as it was such a sudden and big announcement,” he added. “Considering that all of them are comfortable at EVOS, [they were] always grinding for their next tournament.”

The 27-year-old said most players who want to continue competing have one wish.

“Some might retire,” he revealed. “But most of the players would very much like to continue and stick together as a team rather than be split into the other Singaporean teams.”

Soul also mentioned that he has vacated his Business Development Lead role in the esports organization. “I am looking to stay within the esports industry still and hope to contribute to the growth of the entirety of the esports scene in the region,” he said.

There’s no confirmation yet on whether there will be an MPL SG Season 4. Follow ONE Esports on Facebook for more Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and MPL updates.
