The lone Filipino import in Malaysia is off to a good start.

Team SMG started strong in the first week with a win over RSG MY, 2-1, at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 10 (MPL MY Season 10).

In the best-of-three series on Saturday, August 6, Team SMG’s Jaylord “Hate” Gonzales proved he had what it takes to compete in the region after securing two MVP performances in games one and three during his MPL MY debut.

The former ONIC PH star only used two heroes in the series: Lylia in games one and three, and Lunox in the second game. He put on a stellar performance with the former after securing a combined 6/0/9 KDA in two games.

SMG breezed through the first game with an 11-3 kill score in just 15 minutes of play. The team had full control of the map with three Turtles and two Lords, not giving any objectives to the opposing team. Hate was proclaimed the MVP after racking a prefect 3/0/6 KDA.

RSG MY answered back in the second game. Ealtond “Lolealz” Rayner’s Beatrix finished with a perfect 6/0/2 KDA. Despite the loss, Hate’s Lunox recorded a 100% kill participation with a 1/1/3 KDA on a 4-9 kill score.

The 19-year-old midlaner successfully replicated his success with Lylia in game three, finishing flawlessly in the deciding game. His outstanding positioning, coupled with Black Shoes, which immediately restores Lylia’s lost health in team fights, made him a difficult target to pin down.

In a message shown on the stream, Team SMG coach James “Jamess” Chen praised the team’s import.

“Hate has the skills and high understanding of the game,” he said. “He’s not afraid to voice out his opinion as well.”

Team SMG will next face Suhaz Esports on August 12, 6 p.m. GMT+8. Follow ONE Esports on Facebook for more Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and MPL updates.
