After a hectic Summer split, the LEC Summer 2022 playoffs will see the region’s best League of Legends teams battle to advance to Worlds 2022.
The playoffs also mark the final countdown for Misfits Gaming, who are staring down their last chance at securing an LEC championship. The team is set to exit the European league, after selling its slot to Team Heretics for the 2023 season.
Misfits will start off against G2 Esports in the upper bracket of the playoffs, a thrilling opener against 9-time LEC champions hungry to push their title count into the double digits.
2021 Spring and Summer champions MAD Lions are also gunning for their third championship trophy this time around.

The 2022 LEC Summer playoffs is the second stage of the Summer Split, where the top six teams that qualified from the regular season will face off against each other to bring home the championship title and secure a slot at Worlds 2022.
Last year, MAD Lions were the ones to bag the LEC Summer 2021 championship trophy and become one of Europe’s representatives at Worlds 2021.
Games will be played in a double-elimination format, with teams seeded into the upper and lower brackets based on their final position in the regular season. The top four teams are seeded in the upper bracket while the fifth-placed team will play against the sixth-placed team in the lower bracket.
All matches will adopt a best-of-five format, and the winner of the playoffs will be crowned the LEC Summer 2022 champion.
The last two days of the playoffs will be held in Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden on September 10 and 11.
