Team SMG is parting ways with its hard support player, Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross Jr., after just three months together.

The Southeast Asian organization, currently playing in Division I of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022, thanked the 30-year-old for his “enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication” in an announcement today.

But the Flipino-American player asked the organization to be more upfront in a direct reply to the tweet.

“Tell them the real reason of the kick,” the support player wrote. As it turns out, the player claimed that he was kicked because his mother “was on her last days.”

According to the 30-year-old, the team kicked him because they thought his mother’s death would affect his play. His mother, who died Monday, had stage four cancer, so he had known for some time that “this day [would] come.”

“Imagine being fired from a job because you are about to lose a loved one,” ninjaboogie wrote.

This was the 30-year-old’s second stint with SMG, after a 10-month break where he was teamless.

SMG is left with just four players on its roster, after parting ways with the Filipino-American player.
