Mobile Legends: Bang Bang‘s 100th hero and Moonton’s only female assassin released this year is Benedetta, the Shadow Ranger.

Based on her in-game profile, Moonton rates her at 8/10 difficulty. She’s not easy to play because her damage isn’t done in one full burst, nor does she deal consistent damage like a marksman.

Her trade patterns compared to other heroes is different due to her unique passive.

When holding down the Basic Attack button, Benedetta enters Swordout State and keeps gathering Sword Intent. If the Basic Attack button is released after the Sword Intent is fully charged, Benedetta will use Swordout Slash in the direction she’s facing and dash forward, dealing 100 (+220% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage to enemies on the path.

Only when Benedetta is in Swordout State and her Sword Intent is fully charged by holding down the Basic Attack button, can she release the Swordout Slash.

Benedetta can also gain Sword Intent when dealing damage via Basic Basic Attack and skills.

The damage is classified as Skill Damage and deals Physical damage. It doesn’t trigger Physical or Magic Lifesteal, but triggers Spell Vamp.

Benedetta withdraws swiftly and leaves a shadow in front. After a short delay, her shadow slashes forward in a fan-shaped area, dealing 300 / 340 / 380 / 420 / 460 / 500 (+60% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and slowing the enemies by 60% for 0.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, Benedetta dashes forward to slash, dealing 180 / 204 / 228 / 252 / 276 / 300 (+70% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage. If the target is hit by her shadow, damage caused by Benedetta herself will increase to 200%.

Benedetta raises her weapon to defend, gains Control Immunity and blocks damage from any source within 0.8 seconds. After defense, she stabs in a designated direction dealing 300 / 330 / 360 / 390 / 420 / 450 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage.

If Benedetta defends a Crowd Control successfully during defense, she will gain full Sword Intent and stun the target instead for 1.5 second.

Benedetta clenches Alecto and slashes forward after a short delay, becoming invincible while dashing, slowing all targets on the path by 70% for 1 second.

After dashing, Benedetta detonates the Sword Intent on the path, strangling the enemy with the Sword Intent for 2.5 seconds, dealing 80 / 100 / 120 (+50% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and slowing the enemy by 20% every 0.2 seconds.

It’s likely you’ll end up with a negative KDA as you start learning how to play Benedetta. Keep practicing! It takes time to master the new mechanic of charging up her passive’s Swordout Slash, and ensuing your position her in the right direction after doing so.

Every single one of Benedetta’s abilities gives you mobility in the form of a blink or displacement like Phantom Slash. In total, you’ll have a minimum of four movement skills, and even more as your passive charges up in battle. Use her innate mobility to your advantage.

As you let your tank initiate on the front line, look for flank angles, or sweep in with your ultimate Alecto: Final Blow — but only after key skills have been used by the enemy.

Alternatively, instead of going for the big plays, start by positioning around the fringe of fights. Even though her ultimate is an AoE, Benedetta is still an assassin who is looking to land Phantom Slash on her chosen target. Using her mobility, weave in and out of fights. Don’t be afraid to step out, then jump back in for the killing blow.

As an Assassin, the obvious choice is to take the Assassin Emblem. There are a few good choices here, depending on your playstyle. You can put points into Agility for additional movement speed, or Mastery for cooldown reduction which will let you access your skills more often.

For flat Physical penetration consider Invasion, or Spell Vamp — which she gets from her passive — with Blood Thirst.

You can also get lifesteal from items, so Blood Thirst gives you a little extra. In the last row, Killing Spree is the best and only option as it’ll give her back some HP, and grant her bonus movement speed after a kill.

Items wise, she has four core items: Raptor Machete, Magic Shoes, Bloodlust Axe, and Blade of Despair.

The last two items depends on your style, and the enemy line up. We like how she plays out with Endless Battle and Queen’s Wings that gives her HP.

Always adapt your defensive item according to which hero poses the highest threat on the enemy team, and at other times, you may even choose to opt for two defensive items, should the situation arise.
